About Ace's Got Skills:

The Ace Bailey Children's Foundation Got Skills Competition ("Got Skills") is the ultimate youth hockey skills event for pre-teen boys and girls and their families. This one of a kind event combines a top-shelf youth ice hockey skills competition with a powerful grassroots, youth oriented community outreach program. Supported by the NHL, this competition has been created to showcase the glory of the human spirit both on the ice and through our charitable partnership with the Ace Bailey Children's Foundation.

Got Skills Competition Basics:

[] House level skaters compete against other house level skaters - travel skaters compete against only travel level players - house and travel scores are kept separate

[] There are multiple local competitions in each Got Skills market, but skaters only need to compete in ONE local level competition - if they win a skill in that competition they qualify for the Regional level competition in their market*

[] The Sports Illustrated For Kids ‘Top Skills’ award takes all the scores for both house and travel and combines them to come up with the skater with the best score average in each age group.  This winner also advances to the next round of competition.

[] The $20 registration fee allows skaters to compete in all skills (fastest skater, hardest shot, accuracy shooting and shoot out-breakaways). Goalies compete in the goaltender competition.

Got Skills is the ultimate challenge for Squirt and Pee Wee aged youth ice hockey players. It is a place for them to push themselves to their limits and to test themselves against their peers from around the country. When it's over, each player will know who is the best of the best on the ice (the fastest skater, hardest shot, most accurate shot, breakaways shoot out, best goaltender and the SI for Kids 'Top Skills' award winner which is given to the best overall scores). Each participant will be secure in the fact that his/her efforts on that day have contributed to a greater good and helped a child less fortunate than him/herself.

Registration fees from player participants for these events will provide contributions to the Ace Bailey Children's Foundation, a charitable organization started in the name of Garnet "Ace" Bailey, whose sole purpose is to help elevate the quality of life for those children committed to long-term hospital stays. The funds from the foundation go towards the building of unique "play sanctuaries" that allow children to escape the confinement of their rooms and take part in simple joys many of us take for granted.

* In smaller markets where there are no Regional competitions, the best scores from each of the local events advance to the finals
